Jun 13, 2024
The popularity and acceptance of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, are spreading like wild harmattan fire among the Edo Diaspora.

Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, a seasoned media entrepreneur, vice chairman, and spokesperson for the Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO), recently embarked on a political tour to evaluate and engage with diaspora PDP support campaigners. As part of this initiative, Okpebholo paid a courtesy visit to the members of the IGHODALO/OGIE 2024 team, led by Dr. Peter Uwaibi.

During his visit, Ray Okpebholo addressed the overwhelming supporters, highlighting the invaluable benefits of voting for Ighodalo in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the IGHODALO/OGIE ticket would ensure the continuity of the developmental programs initiated by the Godwin Obaseki Administration, benefiting the people of Edo State.

Okpebholo stressed the importance of unity among all support groups. As a PDP chieftain and British-trained journalist, he encouraged the diaspora groups to work harmoniously. He reassured the London diaspora group that an Ighodalo/Ogie government would prioritize inclusiveness, security, and unity in Edo State, fostering the participation of diaspora citizens in the state’s development.

Dr. Peter Uwaibi, leader of the diaspora group, expressed gratitude to Okpebholo for his unwavering campaign commitment. Uwaibi affirmed that the diaspora communities are fully prepared to collaborate with the campaign team to ensure Ighodalo’s victory in September.

Hon. Henry Edeko, a prominent campaign publicist, pledged his continued support for the Ighodalo/Ogie ticket. Chief Ubaka Achebe, from the celebrated Chinua Achebe family, emphasized the need for ongoing sensitization of both rural and urban communities, urging them to vote for the Ighodalo/Ogie PDP ticket. Despite being from Anambra State, Chief Achebe has significant investments in Edo State and thus holds a vested interest in its prosperity. He expressed confidence that Asue Ighodalo is the best candidate for the state.

Dr. Uwaibi concluded by praising the persistent activism of the Ighodalo support movement. He rallied the crowd, acknowledging the current challenging national conditions but urging everyone to place their hopes on the remarkable growth potential of Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
