2027: Give Nnamdi Kanu contract, release him to get more votes – Fayose to Tinubu

Jul 2, 2024

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, urged President Bola Tinubu to emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan’s approach with Tompolo by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and engaging him in contracts. In a video shared on Instagram, Fayose stated that releasing Kanu could potentially reduce crime in the Southeast by 50% and enhance APC’s electoral prospects in 2027.

Highlighting Jonathan’s strategy in the Niger Delta, Fayose emphasized the possibility of using similar methods to foster peace in the Southeast and reduce security spending. He suggested that such a move could improve Tinubu’s relations with the Southeast electorate post-election, demonstrating goodwill and positive intentions.

Fayose’s appeal coincided with calls from other figures including Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, for Tinubu to consider releasing Kanu.
