Ebenezer Olufowose Resumes as Chairman First Bank as Tunde Hassan-Odukale Concludes Tenure

May 10, 2024

Following the completion of his tenure, Mr. Tunde Hassan-Odukale, the former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, has passed the baton to Mr. Ebenezer Olufowose, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the esteemed institution.

The announcement was made by FBN Holdings Plc through a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, signed by the acting company secretary, Adewale Arogundade. The notice clarified that Hassan-Odukale’s tenure had come to an end in accordance with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines, which stipulate a maximum of 12 years for a non-executive director.

In light of this development, Ebenezer Olufowose, a distinguished non-executive director, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria Limited. Olufowose, who joined the board on April 29, 2021, brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise, serving as the Group managing director of First Ally Capital Limited, a prominent investment banking firm headquartered in Lagos.

The transition in leadership signifies a new chapter for First Bank, as it continues its commitment to excellence and innovation in the banking sector. With Olufowose at the helm, the bank is poised to navigate challenges and seize opportunities in the dynamic financial landscape of Nigeria.
